I chose this poem of mine because it is simply one of my favorite pieces of work. This poem's original assignment was the picture poem. I had to choose a photo and write a poem about it. I like what this poem symbolizes and what it means to any athlete that has faced a very tough loss.
The Other Side
Pain in their eyes,
no longer open
only one thing on their mind
Defeat.
Their legs are weak,
no longer standing
only one thing on their mind
Defeat.
The crowd walks out.
no longer cheering
only one thing on their mind
Defeat.
Fell short by one
no longer time
only one thing on their mind
Defeat.
Jumping, yelling, and smiling,
the other side is cheering
only one thing on their mind
Victory.
