Poem: Papa

This piece of writing is one of my poems, which was the assignment of an elegy. I wrote this poem to my passed away grandfather. With this piece I hoped to just allow myself to let out my emotion through a poem and allow that to become a beautiful poem. I enjoy this piece because it shows my serious side and also my emotional side.

Papa

Its been almost five years

since the last time

I saw you,

spoke to you,

said my last goodbye.

We were so close

both with a love for cowboys,

I miss the time we had together,

I hate only seeing you in memories,

I wish I had more time with you.

But I know now we are always together

Your cowboy boots,

button up shirt,

and your favorite guitar

rocking back and forth in your chair

playing your music for us to enjoy

You were the smartest

and always made us practice our math

taught us our left and rights

and our right and wrongs

much more than I could have asked for.

I want just one more lesson.

I just want to take this opportunity

to say I love you.
